About Coffee Cup Artist

I'm Robert Joiner — professional artist working out of a garage studio in Goochland, Virginia. Coffee Cup Artist is where I share the loose, quick side of what I do: sketches, mixed media, and painterly studies of dogs, cats, roosters, and just about any animal that catches my eye, usually with a cup of coffee close by.

I've been painting full-time for 18 years. My work has been featured on CBS sitcoms, and I have sports art in the National Pastime Museum. I was also the official artist for the 2012 Kentucky Derby — posters, programs, tickets, the whole run — and I still do large-scale cow murals for Carnival Cruise's 555 Fahrenheit Steakhouses.

I work in pretty much every medium except oil — drawing, mixed media, collage, watercolor, acrylic. I like keeping things loose and a little unpredictable.
